Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science

Tori Marchese, PT, PhD, FAPTA, research focuses on the complex interplay of physiological mechanisms contributing to physical performance and physical activity in children, adolescents, and young adults with hematologic and oncologic diagnoses.

Focus areas:

  • Primary Investigator on a Department of Defense funded study, “Deficits in Cellular Redox Balance in Survivors of Lower Extremity Sarcoma: A Potential Target for Improving Recovery Time, Function, and Quality of Life”.
  • Primary Investigator on an Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy funded study, “Sickle Cell Children’s Exercise Study (SuCCESs): Determining the effects of a targeted exercise training program on neuromuscular performance, locomotor efficiency, and exercise tolerance in children with sickle cell disease”.

Funding

Dr. Marchese is grateful for funding for the Pediatric Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Lab from the following sources, whose support drives our mission to advance understanding of mechanisms contributing to physical performance and physical activity in children, adolescents, and young adults to improve rehabilitation outcomes.
