Established in 1956, the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Science (UMSOM PTRS) has a long history of providing outstanding education, producing high quality research, and contributing extensively to service.

UMSOM PTRS offers four degrees:
  • Entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)
  • Doctor of Philosophy in Physical Rehabilitation Science (PhD)
  • Dual DPT-PhD
  • Dual DPT-Master of Public Health (DPT-MPH)
UMSOM PTRS is actively engaged in a variety of post-professional programs:
  • University of Maryland Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency
  • University of Maryland School of Medicine Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy
  • Kennedy Krieger Institute Pediatric Physical Therapy Residency

UMSOM PTRS is dedicated to advancing the profession of rehabilitation through high-quality research, excellence in clinical practice, and advances in curricular design and delivery. Our faculty are nationally recognized for their extensive experience.
