Welcome to the NeuroBiomechanics Motion Lab! Our innovative research is centered on understanding balance control and falls, with an emphasis on electromyography and motion analysis. Our interdisciplinary approach combines clinical research and biomechanics to explore clinical applications and community well-being for older adults, post-stroke.
We use advanced Valkyrie Vicon Cameras, force platform and electromyographic technologies along with methods for external and internal balance perturbations to examine reactions. As a result, interventions are developed to specifically address mechanisms for building control and recovery of balance used in fall prevention.
Focus Areas
- Lateral balance control with a focus on the hip abductor-adductor muscles.
- Balance control during Internal and external perturbations.
- The role of muscle function in relation to motion.
