Graduation 2024!

The Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science held our annual Graduation Ceremony for the DPT Class of 2024 on Tuesday, May 14th, 2024. The wonderful day was celebrated by faculty, students, family, and friends at the University of Maryland School of Medicine's Leadership Hall.

The Dean’s Address was given by Mark T. Gladwin, MD, The Vice President for Medical Affairs. Opening remarks were presented by Victoria Marchese, PT, PhD, Professor and Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science. And a very special thanks to the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) President, Bruce Jarrell, MD, FACS for our Conferral of Degrees.

We welcomed our Keynote Speaker and alumnae, Dr. Karen Abraham, Provost at Shenandoah University to provide the wisdom of "Fail, Fuss, Focus on Self" to our future physical therapists. Kelby Kaplan, PT, DPT, EdD, OCS Assistant Professor and Director of Educational Affairs, presented the Keynote Speaker Award to Dr. Abraham.

The President for the DPT Class of 2024, Germain-Blaise Nkede, DPT, gave the student remarks and commended his fellow classmates on their accomplishment.

The annual Educator Award, recognizing excellence in teaching, went to Douglas Savin, PT, MPT, PhD, Assistant Professor and Director for Student Affairs. The Adjunct Educator Award, also recognizing excellence in teaching, went to Kristin Forbes, Adjunct Professor PT, DPT.
