Established in 1956, the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Science (UMSOM PTRS) has a long history of providing outstanding education, producing high quality research, and contributing extensively to service.

UMSOM PTRS offers five degrees:

  1. Entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)
  2. Doctor of Philosophy in Physical Rehabilitation Science (PhD)
  3. Dual DPT-PhD
  4. Dual Bachelor of Science (BS) – DPT*
  5. Dual DPT-Master of Public Health (DPT-MPH)

UMSOM PTRS is actively engaged in a variety of post-professional programs:

  • University of Maryland Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency
  • University of Maryland School of Medicine Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy
  • Sinai Rehabilitation Center and University of Maryland Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency Program
  • Kennedy Krieger Institute Pediatric Physical Therapy Residency
