The University of Maryland School of Medicine's PTRS Department is actively engaged in a variety of post-professional learning programs.

Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency with University of Maryland Rehabilitation Network (UMRN)

The University of Maryland Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency Program (UMNPTR) is devoted to developing visionary leaders in the field of neurologic physical therapy through a collaborative partnership with the following clinical and didactic sites:

• University of Maryland Rehabilitation Network
• University of Maryland School of Medicine Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science
• University of Maryland Eastern Shore Department of Physical Therapy

Our 14-month program includes:

• 300 hours of didactic education
• 150 mentoring hours
• Acute care and outpatient rotations
• Teaching and learning in partnership with the UM School of Medicine and UM Eastern Shore
• Direct exposure to acute care injuries through continuum of care
• Observation of surgery, clinical operations, and outpatient centers

Achieving candidacy status is not an indication that ABPTRFE will grant initial accreditations. Participants who graduate from a program in candidacy status are not deemed to have completed an accredited program. ***

Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency with University of Maryland Rehabilitation Network (UMRN)

The University of Maryland's Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency Program is dedicated to advancing the education of physical therapists in order to develop leaders in clinical practice, research, and service through a collaborative partnership with UM Rehabilitation Network and UM School of Medicine to optimize patient care.

Our 14-month program includes:

• 300 hours of didactic education
• 150 mentoring hours
• Acute care and outpatient rotations
• Teaching and learning in partnership with the UM School of Medicine
• Direct exposure to acute care injuries through continuum of care
• Observation of surgery, clinical operations, and outpatient centers

Pediatric Physical Therapy Residency with Kennedy Krieger Institute (KKI)

The University of Maryland School of Medicine's PTRS Department has partnered with Kennedy Krieger Institute (KKI) to provide didactic education and training to residents enrolled in KKI's Physical Therapy Clinical Residency Program. UMSOM's PTRS Department will provide KKI residents with didactic education through lectures, lab experiences, and assistant teaching opportunities in its entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.

Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy at Camden Yards with the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM)

The University of Maryland School of Medicine Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy is dedicated to graduating physical therapists who have achieved advanced aptitude of skills, knowledge, and critical thinking in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy to develop leaders in clinical practice, research, service, and patient care for the citizens of Maryland and beyond.

Our 12-month program includes:

• 576 hours of didactic education
• 150 one-on-one mentoring hours, all with FAAOMPT-credentialed mentors
• Physician grand rounds
• Training with a radiologist
• Classroom training with in the dental residency program
• Shadowing orthopedists and other physician specialists
• Patient-care clinic hours working in the room with FAAOMPT-credentialed therapists
• Teaching in the University of Maryland’s entry-level DPT program
