    The University Of Maryland School Of Medicine’s Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science (PTRS) is pursuing outstanding applicants for a 12 month faculty position in a Carnegie Research 1 environment. Applicants are expected to demonstrate prior teaching experience, and the ability to contribute to scholarship appropriate to their background and training. A post-professional doctoral degree is required. A Ph.D. and rehabilitation experience are preferred.

    The applicant’s teaching focus should include normal physiology, pathophysiology, with an emphasis on muscle physiology and/or cardiovascular/exercise physiology. Responsibilities may include teaching, clinical service and scholarship in any of the programs (see below). The exact areas of responsibility will be negotiated based upon respective expertise and interest once a candidate is selected.

    The Department of PTRS currently offers the entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, two post-professional degrees: Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy and Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy, and the PhD in Rehabilitation Science degree. The Department is located in downtown Baltimore. The campus is within easy walking distance of Baltimore’s world famous Inner Harbor, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, M&T Bank Stadium (home of the Baltimore Ravens), and the newly renovated Hippodrome Theatre. It is also located within an hour drive of Washington, DC and is 30 minutes from Thurgood Marshall Baltimore Washington International Airport. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.

    The Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science, University of Maryland School of Medicine, is now accepting applications to fill a Research Faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Position # 03-329-33). This position will support the research agenda of the department by enhancing research productivity and visibility through our designated research focus in Neuromotor Rehabilitation. PTRS investigators enjoy a rich collaborative research environment through affiliations with a number of Programs and Centers on campus, including the Graduate Studies in Life Sciences Program, Maryland Exercise and Robotics Center of Excellence and the Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center.

    Applicants should have a PhD and publication record in an area that complements neuromotor rehabilitation including related disciplines of muscle physiology, motor control, motor learning, cortical electrophysiology, and/or neuroimaging. Successful completion of post-doctoral training is strongly encouraged. This position requires external funding and will provide protected time for research and minimal teaching and service responsibilities within the department.
