Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy

Geriatrics Track

GREAT Seminars and the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science have joined forces to provide a Geriatrics Track in the Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy (DScPT) program. DScPT students will be able to apply continuing education learning with GREAT Seminars to earn academic credit. Twelve - fifteen credits toward the DScPT can be obtained by taking GREAT Seminars courses in combination with on-line course work to receive the full academic course credit. Three seminars and one home study will qualify for this program. The seminars include Geriatric Orthopedics, Geriatric Neurology, and Safe Steps. The Home Study course is Documentation and Functional Assessment. The seminars or home study MUST be completed prior to enrollment in the corresponding online course.

There is also an opportunity to complete the scholarly Final Project requirement with an emphasis in Geriatrics. Students who have taken any of the applicable GREAT Seminars courses since 2002 will be eligible. To participate in the Geriatrics Track, the student will attend one of the eligible GREAT Seminars at the time and place of the student’s choosing. Then, the student will submit the certificate of attendance as proof of completion and register and complete the accompanying online course content with the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science. More information about the continuing education seminars and this program can be found at the GREAT Seminars and Books web site at Great Seminars.
