History

Overview

There’s no doubt that the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science is successful. After all, for 45 years we’ve graduated students who have become top-quality professionals in the field. We’ve gone from offering a Bachelor’s degree to a MPT and now a PhD and DPT, from one classroom to many classrooms and a Distance Learning Classroom, and from four students to an all-time high of 68. But did you ever wonder how the program got started?

As with all good stories, it’s best to begin at the beginning, which takes place more than half a century ago.
